The 11th Muslim Charity Run took place today in Victoria Park, London, with over 1000 runners braving the rain to raise money for various charities, including the East London Mosque. Despite the wet weather, spirits were high as participants came together to support good causes both locally and internationally. The event kicked off with a warm-up session before the 5km race. Runners of all ages and abilities took part, and every participant was awarded a medal at the finish line to celebrate their efforts and contributions.
At the prize-giving ceremony, the Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman, and the Mosque’s Chairman, Dr Abdul-Hayee Murshad, handed out prizes to the winners in various categories. Their presence added to the sense of achievement and community spirit. Junaid Ahmed, CEO of the East London Mosque, praised the runners: “It was amazing to see so many people come together despite the rain. Their dedication and generosity are truly inspiring. The money raised today will make a huge difference to the mosque and other charitable causes.”
More than £150,000 was raised, surpassing expectations. Tozommul Ali, Senior Fundraising Manager, expressed his gratitude: “Alhamdulillah, this year’s run has been another great success. Every runner’s effort has helped raise vital funds for several charities. We are so grateful to everyone who participated and donated.”

The Muslim Charity Run continues to grow each year and has become a key event in the mosque’s annual calendar. Participants were not only rewarded with medals but also with the satisfaction of knowing their efforts had made a positive impact on several charitable causes.
